British Colonial Teakwood Cylinder Desk
Late 19th centurySGD 6,700
An elegant British colonial teakwood and dark rosewood trimmed cylinder desk in late regency influence with rectangular moulded top and a cylinder fall-front. The top opens to reveal a fitted interior which consists of six pigeon holes, flanked by two rosewood drawers with brass pulls on either side. The pull-out writing slide has an adjustable writing slope and storage compartments and below an additional two drawers. It stands on four rosewood fluted square plinth legs standing on brass animal feet.
The desk is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Burma teak wood that this piece has been made of has a warm colour and an attractive, straight grain.
