Portuguese Colonial Rosewood Marble Top Table
Late 19th centuryA Portuguese colonial rosewood round table with a marble overlapping top. The apron, made of cedarwood, with a pattern of foliate and stringing rosewood inlay work. The table is supported on four legs that are connected by a carved x-shaped stretcher made of cedarwood within a rosewood frame. The rosewood legs have floral shaped white cedar inlay.
The table is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The rosewood has a dark shade giving sharply defined contrast to the white cedar inlay work.
