Anglo-Indian Cedarwood, Ebony inlay Jewellery Dressing Box

Mid-19th Century

SGD 4,500

An elegant Anglo‑Indian Vizagapatam dressing box from the Eastern Coromandel Coast of India, circa mid‑19th century. Crafted on a hardwood carcass of cedarwood panels, it features dense Mughal‑inspired foliate and animal motifs, contrasting light‑and‑dark edging, bracket feet and a hinged lid with mirror. Inside, a removable fitted tray with small compartments offers storage for jewellery, sewing tools or personal accessories. This hybrid colonial piece beautifully combines British dressing‑box form with Indian craftsmanship, making it an exceptional heritage accent for sophisticated interiors and collectors of Anglo‑Indian furniture.

The box is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
