British Colonial Planter’s Chair with Folding Back
Late 19th centuryA British colonial planter’s chair with folding back, made of teakwood with a newly caned seat and back. The adjustable inclined back and seat are caned in separate sections. At the lower end of the arm support is a plank that rotates out into a footrest. When not in use these planks are stored beneath the arms. The front legs are higher than the rear legs so the seat inclines. The seat height is 38 cm or 15”.
The chair is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
