British Colonial Rosewood Glass Front Cabinet on Stand

A beautiful British colonial glass front cabinet in rosewood with a deep moulded and carved cornice. The frieze is relief carved in a horizontal reeded pattern and three floral patterns. Set back from the base, the cabinet has double doors, each with ten beveled glass panels. The doors are flanked by two solid vertical carved twisted pillars and open to reveal four shelves. The lower section, with an overhanging carved top has three drawers flush fitted with the original brass handles. The cabinet rests on four short carved legs that are double ringed at the bottom and terminate in small peg feet.
The cabinet is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain. The drawer sides and bottom are made of teakwood and attached with fine dovetails to the rosewood drawer front. The interior and backside of the cabinet have also been made of teakwood.
