British Colonial Cedarwood BoxMid 19th century
An amazing British colonial dome-shaped box made of cedar wood, beautifully and profusely carved on the four sides with foliate design and animal figures (deer). The lid is carved with an image of Krishna, flanked by two deer. The box opens to a plain interior and stands on four paw feet. This beautiful box is truly the work of a master carpenter.
The box is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
