An impressive colonial teak four-poster bed frame, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Substantial turned posts, embellished with carved foliate motifs and sculptural bulbous forms, lend the bed a commanding presence. Finely turned ringed spindle head and footboards complement the ornate posts, while a rectangular canopy frame defines its architectural silhouette.

Fully restored, the bed reveals the warm tones and distinctive grain of the teak, highlighting its detailed craftsmanship. Decorative carving, rhythmic turnings and strong horizontal lines combine to create a striking centrepiece, equally at home in a traditional bedroom or a contemporary interior.

Each post can be dismantled in two parts and is plain at the top with a ring followed by a tapered section and a ring where the post can be dismantled. The bed, that can be fully disassembled, rests on short legs ending in a peg foot.

The bed is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing.
