British Colonial Style Rosewood Armchair

A British Colonial style armchair in rosewood with a concave top rail, the back caned and curving. The arms and the upper section of the uprights are reeded, the arm terminating in a tight volute resting on supports composed of a fluted onion-shaped bulb and drum. The seat is trapezoidal and caned, the front legs are turned, tapered and reeded, and terminate in a disc on peg feet. The rear legs, of square section, are moderately raked.

This chair is bench-made using old rosewood and hand-caned using fine quality cane. This style is one found in the pattern books the British brought with them to India.
