British Colonial Mahogany & Ebony Chest of Drawers
Mid 19th centuryA beautiful British colonial chest of drawers made of richly grained mahogany and decorated with ebony mouldings around the drawer fronts and solid ebony pillars on the sides. The piece consists of four short drawers of equal size over three deep, long drawers. Furthermore, all of the drawers are flush fitting with the original C-shaped handles with extruding lugs and a brass back plate. On the sides brass carrying handles. This remarkable piece rests on solid mahogany bun feet.
The chest is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The mahogany has a rich warm shade with a striking grain.
