Portuguese Colonial Rosewood Cupboard
Mid 19th centuryA beautiful Portuguese colonial cupboard made of rosewood with a nicely carved cornice. The double doors, constructed with four fielded panels, are flanked by two carved solid pillars. The bottom is finished with gadrooning on the edge and is resting on four sectioned inverted cup feet. The interior is fitted with four shelves.
The cupboard is in good condition and has been lovingly restored and finished to its former glory using a traditional form of French polishing and waxing. The Indian rosewood that this piece has been made of has a naturally occurring dark shade with a striking grain.
